🤫＞🚫 Muting is Better Than Blocking

I recently discovered a useful feature on IG and Threads—sometimes posts from creators or unfamiliar friends can make my emotions run high. In those cases, the 'mute' function is incredibly handy. I don't need to directly block the person (blocking is reserved for true rivals 😂), and I won't see their content anymore.

Blocking can sometimes anger the other person and cause more trouble—harassment, fake accounts, public complaints, and so on. Muting, on the other hand, is a 'silent disappearance.' There's no trigger point for them to notice, like setting aside information you don't want to see rather than tearing it up violently. I recommend everyone try this feature.

I see muting as choosing to 'gently build boundaries for myself'—without the emotional burden of blocking and unblocking repeatedly. It feels lighter.

⛓️【Each Has Its Gut】SOP and Automation Sharing

Recently, I've made【Each Has Its Gut】, our non-profit platform for amateur speakers, as professional as an online course. As a one-person operation, I've documented all the SOPs for inviting instructors, sending emails, creating graphics and sales pages—automating everything I can. Here's the SOP I'm sharing:

1. Instructor Review

1. After the instructor fills out the registration form
   • Automatically send email confirming registration received
   • Automatically add instructor info to contact database
   • Automatically remind Xiaochang to review the instructor's topic and content
2. After approval
   • Automatically send instructor the correct talk and manuscript review times
   • Automatically add both date tasks to the task database
   • Automatically create new talk project in the project database

I just manually change the status to 'approved' or 'not approved,' and everything else runs automatically! No need for any automation tools—Notion alone handles it!

2. Before the Event

1. Connect with instructor and confirm date
2. Design registration page
   • AI brainstorm course title
   • Fine-tune pre-made Canva template (add instructor photo and change title/date)
   • AI brainstorm short URL
   • AI generate event description (using dedicated sales page bot)
   • Set event category
   • Set up Google Meet meeting link
   • Copy the ticket text in the block, set up two types of tickets (free ticket, sponsorship ticket)
   • Check the registration page link, test registration yourself
3. Modify contract & send contract (include registration page link), remind to countersign
4. Create newsletter registration section
   • Ask AI to tell me why everyone should come listen to this speech
   • Set up task page
5. Adjust the hosting presentation content for speech day
6. Check all systems
   • Notion Content Management System (each team member section)
   • Contacts Database (automatically add speaker data to contacts database when I set up speaker registration)
   • Event Retrospective Database (check past errors from every event I hosted, whether they've all been improved this time)

3. Manuscript Review Meeting

1. Walk through the process once
   • Confirm the speaker's content is substantial
   • Understand the three key points of the lecture beforehand (help the speaker clarify, amateur speakers usually talk too much or are too scattered)
   • Inform of the overall speech flow
2. Confirm details
   • Confirm whether to provide presentation slides
   • Confirm if there are any additional questions you want to add besides the feedback survey content
3. Test if the survey automatically sends emails

4. During the Talk

1. Remind instructor to join early for preparation
2. Open online Q&A system (Slido)
3. Get both laptop & desktop ready in the meeting room
4. Open host's presentation
5. Remind yourself to take a group photo at the end
6. Stay after the session endsDebrief this lecture

5. After the Talk

1. Send post-session survey
2. Collect lecture statistics, for example:
   • Yesterday's 【Each Gut Talk】 lecture data:
     . 88 registrations
     . 53 attendees
     . 17 people completed feedback survey and downloaded slides
     . 4 people wanted to be speakers for future lectures
     ——-
     Instructor earned:
     . 10 people purchased the instructor's $7 command package
     . 7 people purchased the instructor's $34 teaching package
     = Nearly NT$10,000
3. Provide group photo to instructor

All the above SOPs are ones I've tested myself. The SOP follows my own habits, so you don't need to ask AI to brainstorm. I'd also suggest: 'Implement SOP yourself > Document > Optimize > Implement again > Optimize again' — this will feel more intuitive and smooth than having AI brainstorm the workflow directly for you.

📝 Government Contract Templates

Even though it's a free lecture event, I still value contract signing to provide protection for both parties!
